Fantastic day to launch the Community Fund

250 local residents enjoyed a family fun day to mark the launch of the Community Fund on Saturday 8th June.

There were two events. The first took place at the wind farm and was full of activities including sports, arts and crafts. The children were also invited to ‘touch a turbine’, with the winners of the turbine naming competition also announced. The excited winners received their artwork on a plaque for them to keep, a kite, a permanent sticker on the turbines and the 3 overall winners received some money for their school. The names of the 11 turbines are as follows;

  • Swift (best overall name and artwork)
  • Windpower (best artwork), Aerodynamic (best name)
  • Whizzy Busy
  • Eco-electricity
  • Twirls
  • The Big Helter-Skelter
  • Wind Fairy
  • White Beauty
  • Sparkle
  • Emperor Spinner

The second event was held at South Kilworth Village Hall where local people enjoyed a hog roast, tug o war and some live music. The first year of the Community Fund was also presented to Eight Parishes CIC, who will administer the fund. If you are interested in applying for funding download an application form and hand it in to your parish councillor.

Many thanks to all who came along to mark the occasion, it really was a fantastic day!
